| Query: Death Predetermined...
Kaivalya
Jnani:
Once we are born unto this Earth... nothing remains predetermined! Let me
explain -
Whether I shall be born in the house of a king or a laborer is determined
from the residual balance of karma of all the previous manifestations by our soul atman within. No need to
mention that it is our soul atman within that is on its cosmic journey. To shed the impurities within (to
remove the dross within) our soul atman manifests body after
another.
Having born in the house of a laborer... I can still marry the king's
daughter... the Princess! How? By performing the requisite karma in the present life... I can change my
destiny? My predetermined destiny was to live life as a laborer. By grace of God and free will, I can (if I
want to) change the path of my destiny.
Similarly if I don't do anything in the present life... death will come
on its own based on the residual balance of karma of the previous lives. It shall be termed as predetermined!
But is that possible? Can a single human being live even for a second without performing any
karma?
That is just not possible! Even if we sit idle... thousands of thoughts
passing through our brain will make us do our karma... whatever it is! The small stomach will ask for its
food. We have to indulge... and the course of our life changes!
By performing requisite karma even death can be snatched away from the
king of death. In Hinduism we have the famous episode of Satyavan and Savitri. It so happened... that
Satyavan died. Savitri was not convinced of his immature death.
She decided to fight and gave such a grueling wordy dual to Yama (the king of death) that Yama ultimately conceded
defeat and left the soul atman of Satyavan intact. Satyavan lived for many more years for which the complete credit
goes to his wife Savitri.
Every human being in the cosmic system continues doing ones karma. When
death arrives... none knows! Our soul atman within is on its long cosmic journey. In the cosmic system...
nothing dies... on the earthly domain the family weeps bereaved.
For a soul atman within every single life span is just the passing
mileage pillars on the highway. Why worry of the inevitable! Nothing is in control of the body. Our soul
atman within our heart is the master of the body.
