Query: Fear of Death...
Kaivalya
Jnani:
Most living beings fear death for two prime
reasons?
1. Fear of the unknown... none wants to tread unknown territory for one
does not know what the next manifestation would be?
In the face of law... one may be a law abiding citizen but behind the
curtain the same human being may be a menace to the society (a wolf in sheep's clothing). One may put up a
brave face in the present society and escape the gallows... but what of the judgment day of God Almighty when
things would be weighed by the karma performed and not false pretensions.
2. Every human being when young has desires and dreams to fulfill. He
spends his life fulfilling them and at the end of life feels contented having reached the goal of his present
life. And when comes the time for leaving the mortal frame, one recollects memories of total life lived. And
to ones horror it is found that we altogether pursued the wrong goal! Why?
For the simple reason that the body belonged to our soul atman within. We
never cared for the dictates of our soul atman within. And bolstered by our ego we became a slave of wanton
desires and materialistic riches knowing all the while that nothing would get carried to the next life. And
now the dilemma of leaving everything behind pains us.
