Query: Karma previous births... I have got one question. Is our current life completely dependent on the Karma from all the previous births? Or it depends on the karma attained by the current life as well.

Before we indulge on the subject of karma... we need understanding some of the basic fundamentals of life!

Who is a human being?
The relationship between karma and human beings!
Karma and past life!
Can human beings manifest karma... mold their destiny!

The foremost of all things relating to karma is... it is our soul atman that has manifested the human form to work out its karma... cleanse itself of the dross impurities within! Our soul atman is the master and controller of the human form... the human body and not vice versa! It is not within the powers of the human body to manifest a soul atman.

No soul atman of its own can purify itself... similar as the metal within an ore needs the requisite mining machinery and processes for its extraction! The whole process of karma... the doctrine of karma facilitates the movement of soul atman from one manifestation to another. Whatever be the residual balance of karma from all the previous manifestations... accordingly shall be the next manifestation... the new life!

Based on the residual balance of karma of all the previous manifestations some get born in the house of a cobbler... and other manifests the form of a prince! The processes in the cosmic life move in similar manner as the balance sheet of an accountant. Whatever be the closing balance of the day... of present life... becomes the opening balance of next day... the next manifestation!

However, God Almighty knowing well the intelligence human beings have been imbibed with... built in a hidden factor... the concept of Prarabdha karma! The entire karma from the previous manifestations does not fructify as the opening balance of the present life. A portion of it... known as Prarabdha karma can manifest at any moment of life... in present life... the next manifestation... or many manifestations henceforth!

To keep the cosmic system of life in check... at bay... the doctrine of Prarabdha karma was inbuilt by God Almighty! Only by cutting across the shackles of Prarabdha karma... human beings reached the stage of self realization and finally salvation (moksha). The mantra for cutting across Prarabdha karma is absolutely unknown to mankind.

Only serious seekers of spirituality... in their last leg of cosmic life unveil this precious mantra! No sooner the mantra for Prarabdha karma unveiled before one... all is over for the soul atman within... one finally gains enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally salvation (moksha). The human form is the highest manifests stage in the cosmic life cycle... only as a human being the soul atman within gets liberated from the cycle of birth and death forever.

In whatever stage of manifestation in the human form one be... one can by enacting the right karma in present life... reach the 8.4 millionth manifestation... when human beings gain enlightenment and finally salvation. Whatever be the residual balance of karma from previous manifestations... one can finally dissolve the Karma forever... gain omniscience!

Whatever be our manifested destiny from previous manifestations... in present life by enacting the requisite karma... all human beings can manifest destiny... take control of destiny in entirety! Every successful human being in present life has manifested destiny! Behind every successful person lay the seeds of good karma (positive karma) enacted all the time.

What if the residual balance of karma from the previous manifestations is negative? To neutralize the effects of bad karma from previous manifestations... we need enacting positive karma (Punya karma) all the time. Only when we neutralize the negative karma from previous manifestations... can we expect a better future ahead!

Every human being in present life can shape ones destiny. It is a misnomer that God Almighty controls the destiny of mankind. The destiny of every single human being lay with the individual... as is our karma... so shall be our destiny! We cannot expect mangoes to grow on a guava tree. As we sow so shall we reap... nothing more or less, so says the law of karma!

We often observe many human beings in spite of positive karma in present life suffer! All owes its existence to the fructifying of Prarabdha karma... a negative balance of Prarabdha karma from the previous manifestations! Simply by neutralizing the negative impact by invoking positive karma all the time... most human beings can manifest destiny in present life!

No human being is ever permitted to venture into past life! So is not to be. Whatever we are in present life... we have to bear with that! We also need remember in every life... the fruits of karma never belonged to the body. All fruits of karma always belonged to the master and controller of the body... our soul atman within!

We must indulge in karma... Nishakama karma way of life! Which in simpler terms mean... as the fruits of karma always belonged to our soul atman... we must never attach self to the fruits of karma! Bhagavad Gita... the most sacred scriptures of Hinduism existing on Mother Earth preaches this! Living life as a true karma Yogi... is the biggest mantra of all!
