The moment our soul atman leaves the dead body... it immediately tries to manifest a new body. This is only possible if matching parents are available on Mother Earth. The transfer from one manifestation to another is through the residual balance of karma. If matching parents are not available the soul atman either goes to heaven or hell.

Heaven if the residual balance of karma is positive and hell if negative! Heaven as understood by most human beings is not something to be desired of. Heaven exists in the core of the sun where temperatures exceed millions of degrees centigrade. This is the best place for a soul to hibernate in between. Hell also exists in the periphery of the sun where temperatures are less.

Under no circumstances a soul atman is permitted to leave the confines of one mortal world... the entire solar system. The escape from the solar system becomes possible when the human being gains enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally salvation (moksha). It is then the liberated soul atman can go to the kingdom of God (aka Vaikunth in Hinduism) that exists somewhere in the centre of the Cosmos... a place of no return!

Every liberated soul is free to roam the whole Cosmos. Any human being through proper prayers can invoke a liberated soul like Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed and seek ones blessings. Also no soul atman can directly go from heaven or hell to the kingdom of God. It is only when a human being gains enlightenment... the soul finally liberates forever!
