A soul (aka atman in Hinduism) is pure cosmic energy... much beyond the comprehension of most human beings! The spirit as detailed in Christianity and our soul atman within means the same. The definition of soul atman has been wrongly interpreted in Christianity. It is our soul atman that manifests the human form to work out its karma... remove impurities within!

The concept of soul is best understood if we start from the beginning of the Cosmos. Consider a phase in the cosmic system when the dissolution of the old cosmos occurs. The dissolution of the Cosmos results in all souls atmans in the Cosmos reaching the last leg of cosmic life... the 8.4 millionth manifestation!

The moment human beings reach 8.4 millionth manifestation... one reaches the stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally salvation (moksha)! Reaching the last... the 8.4 millionth manifestation announces the end of the cosmic journey for the soul atman within. Once all souls' atmans in the Cosmos regain their original pure pristine form... they enter the abode of God!

At this point of time... after the dissolution of the old cosmos occurs... the size of the entire Cosmos (as detailed in Bhagavad Gita... the most sacred Scripture of Hinduism... the doctrine given to mankind by Lord Krishna) reduces to the size of half a thumb. Why? Devoid of all impurities within... all souls' atmans simply occupy a mass half the size of a thumb!

This half the size of a thumb... the combined power of all purified souls atmans in the Cosmos is what we know as God Almighty. One grain of sand an independent soul atman... the whole mound God Almighty! This prime pristine pure cosmic energy... the cluster of all purified souls atmans in the Cosmos unable to retain itself for long explodes with a big bang!

And starts the formation of a new cosmos... a new journey of life! The mother of all explosions... the sacred big bang causes all souls atmans to hurtle down their cosmic journey at unimaginable speeds! As the rolling ball gathers moss... all hurtling souls' atmans also gather impurities in their cosmic journey!

To remove the impurities... the dross within... every soul atman manifests a series of 8.4 million bodies! Starting life as an amoeba (single cell formation)... the first manifestation in the cosmic life cycle... it further evolves into multi-cell formation, then insect life, plant life, animal life and finally the form of human beings.

Only in the human form the soul atman within regains its original pure pristine form... never otherwise! Never from heaven or hell can the soul atman gain direct access into the kingdom of God (aka Baikuntha in Hinduism). Heaven and hell are interim stages in the life of soul atman!

Depending upon the residual balance of karma whenever matching parents are not available on Mother Earth the soul atman hibernates in heaven or hell! In heaven if the residual balance of karma is positive and hell if negative! Heaven exists in the core of sun where temperatures exceed millions of degrees centigrade.

Hell exists in the periphery of sun where temperatures are considerably less. It is in such low temperatures the soul atman suffers in eternity! The journey of the soul atman... the life cycle of 8.4 million manifestations is one single life span for the soul atman. The residual balance of one life gets transferred to next manifestation through the complex process of karma.

The closing balance of one life becomes the opening balance for the next manifestation. Changing of body by the soul atman within is as simple as changing of guards at Buckingham Palace.

It is our soul atman that has manifested the body and not vice versa.

Reincarnation of Soul
I not only believe that our soul atman lives on after the death of the body... I am practically a living example of that! Having realized God in 1993... I reached the last leg of cosmic life... the 8.4 millionth manifestation! This is my last life as a soul atman! Having gained absolute purity I have nowhere else to go but to the kingdom of God (aka Baikuntha in Hinduism). I have reached the Mount Everest of my spiritual pursuit!
